In March 2022, the foundation supported the Fashion Green Hub association for the project "Reintegration through textile manufacturing trades". This project enabled Jocelyne, a woman over 55, to benefit from training that will allow her to realize her professional project.
Fashion Green Hub, the textile association committed to sustainable fashion.
Founded in 2015, the association aims to combine ethical and sustainable fashion practices with job creation.
It was within this framework that the "Upcycling Sewing" training program was launched in March 2022. This 10-week program includes practical and theoretical components, as well as an internship in the industry. It teaches participants the skills of a garment operator. In addition to the theoretical aspect, the goal of the training is to restore the learners' self-confidence. Some haven't worked since the Covid pandemic, others have never even touched a sewing machine; they may sometimes find it difficult to take the plunge and participate in the training.
To this end, every two weeks, each trainee shares their experience with the entire group. It's a way to showcase one's work and career path while improving public speaking skills.
In total, of the 28 training participants, 72% have returned to work!
Jocelyne, the trainee with an inspiring project
The Foundation funded the training of Jocelyne, a woman over 55. Initially reserved, she gradually gained confidence in herself and her work.
According to the association, Jocelyne was a driving force and brought a sense of calm to the group. After six weeks of training at Fashion Green Hub, she completed an internship at D Multiple, where she worked on various industrial sewing machines. She was able to produce upcycled textile accessories for a local business.
Now that the Upcycling training is complete, Jocelyne is launching her professional project. She wants to move south to be with her children and become a self-employed entrepreneur, making and selling baby products.
At the same time, she met with the mayor of the town to propose a project for sewing-related activities in a retirement home. She hopes to help the elderly residents.
We wish Jocelyne every success with this project. Here's a brief look back at her upcycling training (images provided by the association).
