A look back at the meals shared by Le Rocher

➤ When conviviality becomes a driving force for social connection

Every Thursday and a few Sundays throughout the year, the Le Rocher association opens the doors of its premises, in the heart of the Pile district in Roubaix, to invite residents to prepare and share a meal together.

These shared meals bring together guests of all ages (from 10 to 86 years old) around the same table. Up to 35 participants gather to cook, chat, and above all, break the isolation that seniors and people living alone too often experience.

Over the months, these convivial moments have become true places of friendship and intergenerational encounters. The meals don't end at the table: some friendships born at Le Rocher continue afterwards in the neighborhood or at other events organized by the association.

Seniors, who make up more than 60% of the attendees, attest to the importance of this event in their daily lives. For many, it's a rare opportunity to leave their homes, see their neighbors, or reconnect with old acquaintances, as these photos show. Some even receive transportation to allow them to participate despite mobility issues.

➤ A concrete and measurable impact

Over the course of a year, nearly 1,900 meals are served, more than 60% of which are for seniors. These meals provide opportunities to share a balanced meal, rekindle the joy of social interaction, and celebrate the richness of intergenerational exchange.

The feedback is unanimous: participants leave happy, their hearts filled with memories, shared stories, and sometimes new friendships.

A huge thank you to everyone who makes these moments possible and who, week after week, helps make the Pile neighborhood a warmer and more supportive place.
