Since 2021, the Foundation has supported the Siel Bleu association and welcomes seniors from Roubaix to its premises. Every Thursday, 5 seniors from the surrounding area come to the Damartex gym to participate in physical activity adapted to their mobility.

Siel Bleu, a sports association?

Actually, no! Siel Bleu organizes adapted physical activity sessions. For over 25 years, Siel Bleu has been working with seniors to make physical activity easy for them.

"We work to ensure that staying healthy remains a right, not a luxury."

Jean-Michel Ricard - Co-founder of Siel Bleu

Because Siel Bleu believes that adapted physical activity is the medicine of the 21st century, it supports as many vulnerable people as possible with the help of over 700 professionals throughout France.

Its goal is to make physical activity accessible and also to develop research and development in the field of health prevention. It thus offers more suitable programs for its beneficiaries.

Behind the Scenes at Siel Bleu in Roubaix

For over a year, a professional, Nathan Geloen, has been leading an hour-long exercise class every Thursday morning in Roubaix at the Damartex Group's employee gym. This connection between the association, the Foundation, and the participants was made possible thanks to a trusted network and the local caregiver support center in Roubaix.

"It helps us get our old bones moving," says Monique, one of the participants. Indeed, the five seniors, aged between 70 and 89, suffer from balance problems in some cases, and multiple sclerosis in others, causing mobility issues. The exercises are supervised by a professional from the association who adapts them to each participant's needs. He also provides advice on how to perform the exercises at home without injury.

The session begins with a warm-up. After a few exercises, the instructor provides adapted equipment to work on motor skills. This is a range of innovative equipment, varying in size and weight. This allows for the monitoring of progress and the adjustment of exercises accordingly.

A new partnership with the association

The Foundation has decided to continue its partnership. For this new year of 2023, seniors will be able to continue their physical activity classes. The Foundation is proud of this project, as it improves the well-being of our senior citizens in Roubaix!
