During the week of May 13th, the Damart Foundation and employees were invited to the Seniors Trophy during the Geeks Days festival! An eSport competition that pitted 4 teams from the North against each other to determine the finalist of the National Competition.
Bridging the Digital Divide Through Games
Silver Geek is an association that combines senior well-being, intergenerational connections, and digital technology. Their main mission is to break down the digital barrier for seniors by organizing digital workshops.
Led by young people, they have observed that learning through games is more effective for seniors. The workshops are regular, accessible, and, above all, adaptable to the needs and desires of both seniors and young people. This project is a key player in strengthening the bond between young people and their elders. In addition to the connections that are made, the workshops allow for physical activity. Through movement-based video games, seniors practice gradually. Little by little, seniors become experts and can participate in the Senior Trophy.

Seniors More Geeky Than Ever
The Geek Days festival took place at Lille Grand Palais. This geek culture festival brought together a multitude of geek universes, including video games, manga, movies, and more. It was within this event that the Hauts-de-France Senior Trophy Final was held! A bowling competition where the players didn't use pins, but rather Wii controllers.
Four teams competed on Wii Sports to represent Hauts-de-France in the National Final. Hailing from Saint-Quentin, Douai, Fournes-en-Weppes, and Arleux, the competitors proved each other more tenacious than the last. After two matches, a dozen strikes, and countless spares, Brigitte and Claude from the L’Ostrevent & la Sensée Community Center emerged victorious! A well-deserved victory for the couple from Arleux, who will continue their adventure next fall at the National Grand Final!
During the competition, Isabelle Picard, the Foundation's representative at Damart France, promoted the project and the Foundation to the Geek Days audience. The project's patron also attended and congratulated the competitors from Fournes-en-Weppes, giving them Damart discount vouchers.
A wonderful project and a fantastic event, and one that the Foundation is proud to partner with.
