The protection of the elderly is at the heart of the actions of the APPA association. With several branches in Tunisia, it is in the Zaghouan region that the Foundation has supported the association.
Care for the Elderly
The situation in the Zaghouan region of Tunisia is not necessarily ideal for the well-being of seniors. This is particularly true for those living in extreme poverty and without family support. For example, two villages in this region, Souaf and Nadhour, suffer from this problem, and the association's involvement is crucial.
Unfortunately, APPA Zaghouan does not have a facility to accommodate the elderly. Therefore, volunteers travel to seniors' homes to provide care.
The association assists them by providing several services:
➤ Medical visits: Every Tuesday, a volunteer doctor conducts consultations with about thirty people in the region.
➤ Basic food supplies: The association distributes food packages based on donations collected.
➤ Donations of medication: they distribute medication for chronic illnesses (diabetes, high blood pressure, etc.)
➤ Paramedical equipment: distribution of wheelchairs, canes, etc.
➤ Miscellaneous supplies: distribution of mattresses, winter blankets, and other items.
Foundation support and basic equipment:
We already supported the association in December 2021 to enable them to purchase medical and paramedical equipment. In January 2023, we decided to continue this partnership.
To inaugurate this partnership, at the beginning of February, the association visited the Damart (DMT) factory with the regional delegate of the Ministry of Family, Women, Children, and the Elderly.
Thanks to this project, approximately 350 Tunisians were able to benefit from equipment to feed themselves, receive medical care, and, above all, find some comfort.
