Silver Geek aims to improve the health and well-being of seniors, develop social and intergenerational connections, and bridge the digital divide.

The benefits include:

– Combating social isolation and digital exclusion among seniors, improving their health and well-being, developing intergenerational connections, and changing their perceptions of young people and video games.

– Strengthen civic engagement among young people, change their perspective on the world of older adults, inspire vocations, and foster the acquisition of new skills to advance their socio-professional goals.

– Develop initiatives to create a welcoming atmosphere in senior living facilities, improve the environment, promote professionals working with older adults, enhance the sector's appeal, improve the use of digital technology in supporting seniors, and develop connections between stakeholders from different ecosystems across the region.

Supported Projects:

1. The organization of amateur esports competitions between teams of older adults: “The Silver Geek Seniors Trophy,” whose regional finals take place at major esports events such as Gamers Assembly, Paris Games Week, Japan Expo, and Stunfest.

2. France-Belgium meeting: organization of a meeting between the winning team of the Final of the Silver Geek Hauts-de-France 2024 Trophy (May 18 at the Geek Days in Lille) and Belgian senior players who will participate in a local esports competition in Brussels on September 18, 2024.
