Association: The Traveling Orchestra

Supported Project: Traveling Concerts

The Traveling Orchestra is a young association that brings together musicians around a common goal: to bring classical music to those who can no longer travel. Created in 2024, the orchestra distinguishes itself through its commitment to reaching out to seniors (sometimes isolated or living with disabilities), performing in care facilities with the same artistic standards as in major concert halls.

Concerts to Rebuild Social Connections

The Traveling Concerts project stems from a simple observation: many elderly or vulnerable people no longer have access to cultural venues. The project therefore proposes to reverse the usual approach by bringing the music to them.

Inspired by the concept of an orchestral tour, the project plans to bring classical music concerts to healthcare and social service facilities, particularly non-profit nursing homes, which are considered concert halls in their own right. The musical ensembles will be adapted to the venues and repertoires, ranging from chamber music to symphony orchestras.

The Traveling Concerts will take place over four concert series in four different regions, reaching a wide audience of seniors. These concerts will be held in the North, in Royan, Burgundy, and the Vosges. A total of 18 concerts will be organized. Residents, their families, and staff from the facilities will be able to share this experience together.

Expected Outcomes

● To promote access to culture for seniors who live far from traditional performance venues.

● To combat social isolation among the elderly through shared and unifying activities.

● To foster intergenerational connections between residents, families, staff, and musicians.

● To offer sensory and emotional stimulation through classical music.

● To promote healthcare and social care facilities as true cultural spaces.

➤ By supporting the Traveling Concerts project, our Foundation affirms its commitment to cultural initiatives that reach out to seniors, create intergenerational opportunities for sharing, and contribute to improving the quality of life within these living spaces.
