Supported Project: Intergenerational Workshops in Paris

The Rhiz’homes association, founded in 2022 and recognized as a public interest organization, works in the 19th arrondissement of Paris to combat social isolation among the elderly and change society’s perception of them.

As part of its commitment to promoting inclusion and solidarity between generations, the On Seniors’ Side Foundation supports a project by the association offering free weekly workshops that invite seniors and young people to collaborate in a spirit of exchange and sharing.

Project Description

Each week during the school year, young people and seniors come together for participatory workshops designed by the participants themselves. Cooking, DIY projects, painting, writing, theater, digital skills, photography, sewing, or raising awareness about environmental issues: the diverse themes foster an inclusive dynamic where everyone can take turns being a facilitator or a participant. Participation is free, with no obligation to attend regularly, to ensure accessibility for all. The project is supported by twenty volunteers, one part-time employee, and one volunteer on a civic service placement, in partnership with the Alice Guy nursing home and the Maison des Champs Foundation, which host the workshops.

This initiative aims to combat ageism and social isolation among seniors, while creating lasting spaces for intergenerational interaction. By valuing everyone's skills and encouraging openness, the project contributes to a more inclusive, supportive, and balanced society.
