Supported Project: Bagatelle Solidarity Caregiving

In France, one in six people is currently a caregiver. In the Gironde department, this represents more than 250,000 people, often left to their own devices to support a loved one experiencing a loss of independence. This responsibility, which can take up several hours a day, leads to stress, isolation, exhaustion, and even professional difficulties.

With over 160 years of experience in caregiving, the Bagatelle Foundation has been committed to supporting caregivers for more than 10 years. Each year, nearly 300 caregivers already benefit from its support.

With the Bagatelle Solidarity Caregiving program, it aims to go even further by offering an innovative, free, and mobile approach, directly within businesses and schools.

The goal? Raising awareness, identifying, and supporting caregivers in difficulty through a multidisciplinary team that works directly in the field. This program is structured around three key actions:

  • informing the general public and organizations about the realities of caregiving,

  • identifying caregivers who are often invisible,

  • offering personalized support: listening, psychological support, administrative assistance, and tailored solutions.

This project addresses a pressing social need: more than half of caregivers say they are unaware of their rights, and a third feel alone in the face of their responsibilities. By providing concrete, local support, this project aims to break down isolation, protect caregivers' health, and improve their work-life balance, while also fostering social cohesion within communities.

Thanks to this program, caregivers are no longer alone: they find a listening ear, advice, and support to better manage their role, benefiting both their own health and that of the person they are caring for.
