Supported Project: Fugues et Facéties (Fugues and Facetiousness): The Art of Connecting with Dependent Elderly People

Since 2007, this association has been using art and clowning to foster social connection with elderly people, including those with the highest levels of dependency.

The project is based on the regular visits of professional clown duos to nursing homes and Alzheimer's units. Two to four times a month, they move through the hallways, rooms, and common areas to improvise performances and interactions tailored to each individual. The idea is not to create a traditional show, but to meet residents where they are, respecting their pace and reality, and valuing their sensory, cognitive, and motor abilities.

This approach relies on non-verbal communication and attentive listening: the clowns do not seek to impose their will, but rather to adapt to each person. Each encounter thus becomes a unique experience, where laughter, wonder, and complicity blend with attentiveness and respect for each individual's uniqueness.

Beyond the connection with residents, "Fugues et Facéties" also supports professional teams in nursing homes, offering them a fresh perspective on dependency and aging. The emphasis is on personalizing each encounter, allowing everyone—resident or caregiver—to experience an enriching and lighthearted moment in what can sometimes be a challenging environment.

Through this project, VIVRE AUX ÉCLATS continues to open new perspectives on aging, dependency, and creativity, making art a tool for human connection and sharing, accessible to all.
